The Kremlin has welcomed a US invitation for Vladimir Putin to attend the G20 summit in Miami in December 2026, according to spokesman Dmitry Peskov on September 23. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington hopes Putin will accept the invitation, calling it an opportunity for negotiations with President Donald Trump and other world leaders. Peskov said the matter will be handled through diplomatic channels. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed readiness to meet Putin at the summit, suggesting Trump could arrange a trilateral meeting.
