Nancy protest leaves five detained, three injured in clashes
A protest in Nancy on October 24 degenerated into clashes with police, resulting in five detentions and three injuries, though the violence was less severe than the previous Saturday's unrest. The demonstration against the high cost of living and lack of funding for schools saw over 4,000 participants. A heavier security presence, including 250 officers and a water cannon, helped contain the event until mid-afternoon, when projectiles were thrown at police. Three people were injured and treated by firefighters. Five protesters were arrested and placed in custody, including individuals accused of breaking a store window and stealing from a fire truck. Five others were arrested earlier during road checks outside the city.
