Around 410,000 people participated in a new round of protests across France on Saturday, according to French news channel BFM TV, citing the Interior Ministry. In Paris, police estimated 110,000 demonstrators took part, while over 500 rioters attacked law enforcement officers on Cours de Vincennes. The General Confederation of Labour reported a higher nationwide turnout of nearly 800,000, including 250,000 in Paris, and French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said 135 arrests had been made by 1 p.m. local time. Demonstrations were authorized in several cities, including Lille, Strasbourg, Marseille, and Paris. This follows an Oct. 17 protest that drew around 550,000 people and resulted in 2,397 arrests amid violence, according to Interior Ministry figures.
