Milan prosecutor seeks arrest validation for researcher Youssef Siher; wife also investigated

ansa.it (Italian) —

Milan prosecutor Francesca Crupi will request the validation of the arrest of Youssef Siher, a 30-year-old researcher detained on charges of terrorism, incitement to crime, and organized violence at public demonstrations. He is accused of administering the Telegram chat and Instagram page "Movimento 17 ottobre." Siher's 32-year-old wife, of Lebanese origin, is also under investigation for incitement to crime in connection with her husband. Investigators say both were administrators of the movement's social media pages, and they traced Siher through the woman's cellphone after his own phone was switched off. The couple is believed to be the sole authors of a post giving instructions to protesters in eight cities, which could have reached up to 150,000 followers across Telegram and Instagram. The protests never materialized due to police intervention.
