aftonbladet.se (Swedish) —

More than 1,300 people were arrested and around 50 police officers were injured during protests across France on Saturday, according to the interior ministry. The ministry reported 53 security force members injured, while two demonstrators were seriously hurt in Toulouse and Clermont-Ferrand. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez blamed the violence on "black-clad extremists," and police responded with tear gas, water cannons, and stun grenades. The CGT union estimated 800,000 people demonstrated nationwide, while the interior ministry put the figure at just over 400,000. By 10 p.m. Saturday, arrests had already approached 1,000.
