Italian Police Arrest Researcher Youssef Siher on Terrorism Charges
Italian police arrested Youssef Siher, a 30-year-old second-generation Italian researcher, on terrorism charges for allegedly masterminding the "October 17 Movement" linked to violent clashes in Milan. He also faces charges of incitement to crime and organized violence at public demonstrations. Siher, a Brescia resident of Moroccan origin, is a freelance journalist and Pro-Palestinian activist with expertise in the Middle East. He has written for national outlets like Il Fatto Quotidiano and worked as a research trainee at ISPI's Middle East and North Africa Observatory. Authorities allege he used social media to incite violence and organize attacks across Italian cities. Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi said Siher had contacts with antagonist groups, while Defense Minister Guido Crosetto described him as well-connected rather than marginalized.
