Bologna clashes: 3 arrests, 700 identified, 32 injured in Saturday protests

ilrestodelcarlino.it (Italian) —

Three arrests and 700 identifications followed Saturday's clashes in Bologna, with 32 injured, including 24 police officers, and vandalism targeting shops and ATMs. The violence occurred between 5:30 PM and 9:30 PM on Via Marconi, where police blocked protesters from reaching the central station. The unrest began with around 3,000 demonstrators, some masked, who threw objects at police lines. Authorities used water cannons and tear gas to disperse them. A young activist collapsed during the clashes but was later released from hospital after a minor medical issue. Three protesters were arrested for violence and damage. The protest was organized by the newly formed "Movimento 17 ottobre" without prior notice. Police issued four mandatory leave orders and two urban access bans. A solidarity rally for the arrested activists took place Sunday evening in Piazza Galileo.
