More than 100,000 people protested in Paris on Saturday against the rising cost of living, with the demonstration ending in clashes between police and protesters who were dispersed with tear gas and water cannons. Paris police reported 110,000 participants in the march, which ran from Porte d'Italie to Porte de Vincennes. Authorities conducted security checks on over 3,000 people and made 65 arrests, while Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said 410,000 people protested nationwide, though unions estimated 800,000. The protest was the second consecutive day of demonstrations, involving students and "yellow vests" who have announced new actions for October 31. The government deployed 70,000 security agents following last week's unrest, when around 3,000 businesses were vandalized. Similar cost-of-living protests also turned violent in Brussels and Tirana.
