Macron vows strict action against rioters in France's largest recent protests
French President Emmanuel Macron has vowed strict action against rioters, stating violence can never be justified, following nationwide unrest that has become one of the country's largest recent protests. The protests, sparked by rising living costs and deteriorating public services, turned violent, resulting in two deaths and hundreds of injuries. Macron promised full transparency regarding police conduct and said those responsible for damage will pay for it. Around 550,000 people participated in the demonstrations, which included arson and looting. Macron blamed far-left groups and criminal elements for the destruction, emphasizing a clear distinction between protesters with legitimate grievances and those committing violence.
