Paris riots leave Swedish resident without grocery stores
Following a weekend of France's worst riots in years, Paris residents are struggling to return to normal life, with Swedish citizen Isabell Kvist, 24, reporting that all grocery stores near her home at Place de la République are destroyed and unusable. The riots, which also hit Marseille and Lyon, involved masked individuals clashing with police, looting businesses, and causing billions in damages. Authorities report 3,000 commercial premises vandalized nationwide, with 300-400 shops looted in the Paris region alone, and around 2,400 people arrested. The unrest began Saturday amid a peaceful protest of over 100,000 people, which was infiltrated by thousands of black-clad extremists and criminals. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez has offered to resign, but President Macron refused, demanding concrete security measures first.
