France summons Vinted, Leboncoin, eBay to block resale of looted goods
French government officials are meeting Monday evening with online sales platforms, including Vinted, Leboncoin, and eBay, to prevent the resale of goods looted from shops during weekend riots. The meeting aims to block stolen product listings and trace the individuals responsible for selling them. The virtual meeting, led by Digital Minister Anne Le Hénanff and Trade Minister Serge Papi, also includes the Justice and Interior ministries. Vinted has pledged "zero tolerance," stating it has already removed suspicious listings and will ban accounts violating rules, while cooperating with French authorities. Political figures Jordan Bardella and Gabriel Attal have separately called for stronger state-platform cooperation to identify those attempting to sell stolen goods. eBay and Leboncoin had not yet responded to requests for comment.
