Xi and Trump agree on AI hotline and trade truce

China and the US agreed to establish a communication hotline for AI incidents and reduce tariffs by $30 billion, following President Xi Jinping's three-day state visit to Washington. The eight-point agreement includes a bilateral AI dialogue, with the next round planned for November, and a "red telephone" channel for AI-related incidents. Both sides also agreed to extend a trade truce by two months and cooperate on APEC and G20 summits. The White House said both nations will use the term "superintelligence" instead of "artificial intelligence." China also agreed to import at least 10 million tons of US coal in 2027-2028, and a US zoo will receive two pandas.
