Xi and Trump Discuss Iran, Russia, Ukraine, and North Korea
Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump exchanged views on global and regional issues including the Middle East, Ukraine, and the Korean Peninsula during a meeting at the White House on Thursday, according to an official Chinese government statement. The statement said Xi and Trump also affirmed mutual support for hosting regional meetings in the coming weeks. China is scheduled to host the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in November, while the US will host this year's G20 summit in Florida. The statement did not specify whether either leader would attend the other's summit. Xi also stated that the two leaders decided to build a "strategic, constructive, and stable China-US relationship," adding that such a relationship benefits not only the Chinese and American peoples but also people worldwide.
