US and China agree to open AI incident communication channel

The United States and China will establish a communication channel for artificial intelligence incidents, following a summit between President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping on Friday. The White House announced the agreement in a fact sheet. The two countries created a "US-China Super Intelligence (SI) Dialogue" to exchange views on AI risks and benefits, with leaders agreeing to use the term SI instead of AI. The next exchange is scheduled by November, and a bilateral incident communication channel was also established. Trump stated before the summit that SI would be a major topic, while Xi called for managing superpower rivalry and keeping AI under human control. Xi emphasized both nations' responsibility to develop AI for good.
