US and China Extend Trade Truce, Agree on AI Dialogue Framework

The United States and China have each published outcome documents from their summit, agreeing to extend a "truce" in trade friction over tariffs and other issues. Both governments announced the terms of their agreement. The two countries will mutually reduce tariffs by approximately $30 billion, and China has agreed to import at least 20 million tons of coal from the United States. In artificial intelligence, they agreed to establish a dialogue framework and set up a communication channel for unexpected contingencies. Regarding President Trump's use of the term "SI" (superintelligence) instead of "AI," China expressed respect for the phrasing. The Taiwan issue was not included in the agreed items.
