China to buy 10M tons of US coal after Trump-Xi summit

China agreed to purchase at least 10 million metric tons of American coal annually in 2027 and 2028, following President Trump's White House meeting with President Xi Jinping, as part of efforts to revive the US coal industry. The White House also announced a $30 billion trade deal covering non-sensitive goods, including US agricultural products, medical devices, and cosmetics, while China would export small appliances, toys, and car seats. US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer confirmed the agreements, though major disputes remained unresolved. China has previously fallen short on pledges to buy US soybeans and $17 billion in agricultural products, according to Agriculture Department data. The leaders also agreed to rename artificial intelligence as "super intelligence," and Trump criticized China's support for Iran.
