Xi recalls U.S.-China cooperation milestones at state dinner
Chinese President Xi Jinping, during a White House state dinner on Thursday, recalled historical moments of U.S.-China exchange and cooperation, referencing George Washington's collection of Chinese porcelain and Richard Nixon's 1972 visit to Beijing. Xi highlighted cooperation between the two nations against Japan in World War II, calling it a "friendship forged in blood and fire." He also noted Nixon's handshake with Mao Zedong marked the start of normalized relations, and urged future cooperation, saying the MAGA agenda could coexist with China's national rejuvenation goal. Trump presented Xi with a bald eagle sculpture, a U.S. national symbol, created by an American artist in collaboration with Trump and the first lady. Trump expressed hope the eagle would find a "wonderful place" in Beijing.
