US-China Launch Trade Committees, China to Buy 10 Million Tons of US Coal

The United States and China launched new bilateral trade and investment committees during a Washington summit, with China agreeing to purchase at least 10 million metric tons of American coal over 2027 and 2028. The White House said the committees will address tariff preferences on $30 billion in non-sensitive goods, agricultural market access, and U.S. exports including farm products, seafood, and cosmetics. China also committed to boosting refined fuel output to stabilize global supply. The leaders agreed on a "Super Intelligence" dialogue mechanism, discussed rare earth supply chains, and reaffirmed opposition to Iran acquiring nuclear weapons. The U.S. also welcomed China's loan of two giant pandas to Atlanta Zoo.
