Milan riots: 271 identified, 80% minors, 14 police injured
Italian authorities identified 271 people linked to two days of riots in central Milan, with 80% being minors. Prosecutors described the actions as "rare violence," charging suspects with devastation, looting, and aggravated resistance. Fourteen police officers were injured. Of the 271 identified, 220 are minors and 60 are foreigners. Police detained 174 under a security decree provision, while 32 arrests were made for Sunday's clashes, including 23 minors. Eleven adults face requests for pre-trial detention in prison, with charges including looting punishable by up to 15 years. Prosecutors cited suspects' "absolute ease in improvising destructive actions of rare violence," noting one 19-year-old looted a Foot Locker with about 50 others. The government plans to deploy 500 additional soldiers to Milan under Operation Safe Streets.
