Canada announced countermeasures against new US tariffs, including trade barriers effective September 8 and economic support to mitigate impacts on jobs and consumption. Industry Minister François-Philippe Champagne unveiled a 7.5 billion Canadian dollar package, imposing tariffs up to 50 percent on US goods. He stated Washington's demands were unfair, following collapsed talks and US tariffs on Canadian vehicles. Finance Minister acknowledged the tariffs' severe impact, as Canada sells 70 percent of its goods to the US. Additional measures include 3 million dollars in non-repayable support for small businesses, plus household aid totaling 24 billion dollars.
