g1.globo.com (Portuguese) —

In Brazil's 2026 election runoff, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva gained nearly 3 million votes in the Northeast compared to the first round, while opponent Flávio Bolsonaro added 398,000, widening Lula's regional lead to 13.6 million votes. Lula's total rose from 21,494,584 to 24,450,432 votes, while Flávio went from 10,398,973 to 10,796,736. Lula's vote share increased from 63.77% to 69.37% of valid votes, with gains recorded in all nine states, led by Bahia's 820,487 additional votes. Maranhão was the only state where Flávio lost votes, dropping by 9,069. The comparison accounts for different scenarios, as the first round included other candidates while the runoff featured only Lula and Flávio, according to TSE data analyzed by g1.
