Zelenskyy asks Trump to enlist China's help to end Russia's invasion

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Friday he asked U.S. President Donald Trump to press China's leader to use Beijing's influence over Moscow to end Russia's 4½-year invasion, and he awaits feedback from Trump's talks with Xi Jinping. Zelenskyy, visiting the U.S. during the U.N. General Assembly, met Trump on Tuesday and detailed U.S. proposals for trilateral technical talks with Russia, possibly in the UAE, while thanking Congress for a strong sanctions bill Trump has not yet enacted. He also confirmed Trump approved licenses for Ukraine to produce Patriot air defense systems. Zelenskyy discussed Black Sea shipping with leaders of India, Turkey, and Egypt, sought IMF and EU budget aid, and reported Russian strikes killed five in Ukraine, including a Kyiv boy, while Russia reported one dead from Ukrainian long-range attacks.
