US proposes trilateral talks with Ukraine and Russia to end war

The United States has proposed a trilateral meeting with Ukraine and Russia to discuss ending the war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced Friday, with the Kremlin confirming contacts. The meeting would reportedly take place in the United Arab Emirates. Zelenskyy said Ukraine is awaiting a date proposal from the US side, which suggested the Emirates as a possible venue. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the meeting could happen soon but provided no details, while Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev held talks in the US on economic issues. Zelenskyy met with US President Donald Trump this week on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. He also asked Trump to raise the conflict with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, who is visiting Washington, and warned European partners about potential Russian hybrid attacks.
