Zelenskyy asks Trump to enlist China's help in ending Russia's invasion

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Friday he asked U.S. President Donald Trump to press China's leader to use Beijing's influence over Moscow to help end Russia's 4½-year invasion, and he is awaiting feedback from the White House on Trump's talks with Xi Jinping. Zelenskyy, in the U.S. for the U.N. General Assembly, also said Washington is pushing for three-way technical talks with U.S., Ukrainian, and Russian delegations, possibly in the UAE, and that Trump confirmed Kyiv will receive licenses to produce Patriot air defense systems. He thanked U.S. lawmakers for a strong sanctions bill Trump signed but hasn't enacted. Zelenskyy held talks with leaders of India, Turkey, and Egypt on securing Black Sea shipping routes, and with IMF and European Commission heads on plugging Ukraine's budget deficit. Meanwhile, Russian strikes killed five in Ukraine, including a 14-year-old in Kyiv, while Ukrainian long-range attacks hit two refineries.
