Trump says US can source goods elsewhere as Canada trade talks collapse

U.S. President Donald Trump said Wednesday it is "time to teach Canada you can't do this anymore," days after trade talks between the neighboring countries broke down. Trump made the remarks in an interview with Glenn Beck, saying Canada "doesn't have anything that we have to have" and that the U.S. could source goods elsewhere. He imposed new 50 percent tariffs on US$20 billion of Canadian imports Saturday after negotiations collapsed. Canada retaliated Tuesday with matching tariffs on about US$20 billion of U.S. annual imports and announced aid for businesses and workers. The escalating dispute follows the breakdown of talks between the two nations.
