Vance blames Western liberals for France protest violence

nv.ua (Ukrainian) —

US Vice President JD Vance blamed "Western liberals" for violence during mass protests in France, accusing them of bringing the "third world" into the country. He made the remarks on X, commenting on a video of protesters setting fire to a 19th-century town hall in Limoges. Vance claimed that migration from third-world countries caused the unrest, saying liberals ignored "fundamental questions of assimilation and compatibility" despite warnings. He called for an end to the protests and suggested the US could face a similar situation if Democrats win upcoming elections. The protests on October 17 drew an estimated 550,000 participants, with around 1,200 arrests and 150 police injured, according to officials. Demonstrations were sparked by dissatisfaction with living standards, fuel prices, and public services.
