Zelenskiy expects Democratic midterm gains to boost US aid for Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said he hopes Democratic gains in the US midterm elections will lead to increased American support for Ukraine in its war with Russia, which has lasted four and a half years. In an interview with Germany's ZDF television, Zelenskiy expressed gratitude to Republicans but noted Democrats speak clearly about backing Ukraine, hoping a new balance of power in Congress will bring more aid that could influence Russian President Vladimir Putin. Zelenskiy also addressed his uneven relationship with President Donald Trump, who recently made moves favorable to Russia, while US-led trilateral talks with Ukraine and Russia are set to resume in Abu Dhabi on November 10-11.
