Brussels hosts Ukraine reconstruction talks with allies
The European Commission is hosting representatives from Ukraine, the US, France, Germany, the UK, NATO, and the World Bank in Brussels today to restart negotiations aimed at ending the war in Ukraine, focusing on post-war reconstruction and economic recovery. The meeting follows weeks of shuttle diplomacy involving Washington, Kyiv, Moscow, and European partners. It remains unclear who will represent Ukraine and Washington. On Thursday, US First Lady Melania Trump will receive Ukrainian and Russian representatives at the White House following a humanitarian ceasefire in Russian-occupied Oleshky. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Finnish President Alexander Stubb are among key European figures involved in recent diplomatic efforts, including a 90-minute call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Finland, sharing a 1,340-kilometer border with Russia, has a particular interest in maintaining open diplomatic channels.
