Melania Trump hosts Russian and Ukrainian officials at White House to mark Oleshky ceasefire
First Lady Melania Trump hosted Russian and Ukrainian officials at the White House on Thursday to mark a six-day ceasefire she brokered in the Ukrainian village of Oleshky, with Putin's envoy thanking her for her humanitarian role. Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev said Putin personally gave instructions and sent thanks, while Ukrainian officials, including Davyd Arakhamia, praised her work and urged continued de-escalation. The ceasefire, signed Oct. 23, allowed humanitarian aid delivery and evacuation of nearly 800 residents from the besieged area. Melania Trump initiated talks after learning of Oleshky's dire conditions, where food and medical supplies were scarce. She has also helped reunite nearly three dozen children with families separated by the war, and expressed hope the ceasefire could expand into lasting peace.
