Trump says Russia and Ukraine close to reaching a deal

US President Donald Trump expressed belief that Russia and Ukraine are close to readiness to reach an agreement to settle the conflict, voicing optimism about progress in peace negotiations. In an interview with the Financial Times, Trump said he thinks both sides are near saying "let's make a deal." The newspaper noted his optimistic view contrasts with Ukrainian negotiators' assessment, ahead of trilateral talks scheduled in Abu Dhabi on November 10-11. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed Russian participation on Tuesday, with aide Vladimir Medinsky leading the delegation. US envoy Steve Witkoff said Washington will mediate discussions covering post-conflict security arrangements, de-escalation, humanitarian issues, and next steps toward peace.
