Melania Trump meets Russian and Ukrainian envoys, backs Oleshky ceasefire peace push
Melania Trump met with Russian and Ukrainian representatives at the White House on Thursday, expressing hope that a six-day ceasefire in the occupied city of Oleshky would lead to a more lasting peace. The First Lady said the ceasefire, which ended November 1, could serve as an impetus for durable peace, emphasizing the roles of Presidents Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky in making it possible. She wrote personal letters to both leaders, to be delivered through the delegations. Attendees included Russian ombudswoman Yana Lantratova and envoy Kirill Dmitriev, and Ukrainian officials Dmytro Lubinets and David Arakhamia. Lubinets presented Trump with the Order of Princess Olga, while Dmitriev gave her a framed drawing from an Oleshky girl. Nearly 800 people were evacuated during the truce.
