Zelensky Honors Melania Trump for Humanitarian Role in Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded the Order of Princess Olga, first class, to U.S. First Lady Melania Trump on Wednesday for her role in negotiating a partial truce that allowed civilian evacuations from Russian-occupied Oleshki. The decree, published on the Ukrainian presidency's website, cited her "important personal contribution to humanitarian support for Ukraine" and her work on human rights and charity. The truce, announced last month, was respected by both sides and enabled road demining and civilian departures. Melania's office called the initiative an unprecedented diplomatic achievement for an American first lady. She is also involved in efforts to return Ukrainian children taken to Russia and will host representatives from both sides in Washington, with a statement on the ceasefire scheduled for Thursday.
