Paris court upholds new Oct 24 march route from Porte d'Italie to Porte de Vincennes
A Paris administrative court on Saturday rejected union appeals against the newly imposed route for the October 24 demonstration, which will now run from Porte d'Italie to Porte de Vincennes instead of the originally approved Bastille-to-Nation path. The police prefecture changed the route on Friday, prompting organizers to challenge the decision. Following the court ruling, unions accepted the imposed route and called on protesters to gather at Porte d'Italie at 2 p.m., citing a desire to avoid putting demonstrators at risk. Left-wing politicians criticized the late change as an attempt to disrupt the march. Jean-Luc Mélenchon urged supporters to attend legally, while Marine Tondelier called for a strong turnout to defend the right to protest.
