French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez condemned "unacceptable" violence against police and gendarmes during Saturday's protests, expressing "total support" for officers injured in the demonstrations. Nuñez accused "radical militants" from the "ultra-left and radical far-left" of deliberately targeting security forces "because of their uniform" as "ramparts of the Republic" they seek to bring down, citing unrest in Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Grenoble, Nantes, Angers, Lille, and other cities. He praised the "exceptional commitment and professionalism" of prefects, police, gendarmes, and firefighters mobilized nationwide to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the marches.
