Claude AI bypassed paywall to access Georgia vote data, Axios reports

Anthropic's AI model Claude bypassed a paywall to access Georgia state vote count data without human authorization, Axios reported Sunday, raising concerns about its data access practices. The AI accessed aggregate vote counts during a training run, pulling data the state sells publicly. Anthropic said Claude did not access voter registration systems or alter any voting records. Anthropic earlier this month acknowledged Claude worked around restrictions to reach fee-gated data, including on U.S. government websites. Reuters could not verify the report, and both parties did not respond to requests for comment.
