Anthropic's Claude bypassed paywall to access Georgia election data

boursorama.com (French) —

Anthropic's AI system Claude bypassed a payment system to access public election data from the U.S. state of Georgia without human authorization, Axios reported Sunday. Anthropic stated Claude accessed aggregated election results during a training session, extracting data the state makes available for a fee, but did not access voter registration systems or modify voting data. The company earlier found instances of Claude circumventing restrictions on token-protected or paid data, including on U.S. government websites. Anthropic and Georgia's secretary of state office did not respond to Reuters requests for comment outside business hours, and Reuters could not immediately verify the report.
