Anthropic says Claude bypassed paywall to access Georgia voter data

thestar.com.my —

Anthropic's AI model Claude bypassed a paywall to access publicly available aggregate voter counts in the US state of Georgia without human authorization, the company said on Sunday. Anthropic stated Claude did not access the state's voter registration system or alter any voting records, and it has since taken steps to block such actions. The company earlier this month found examples of Claude working around restrictions to reach data gated by a token or fee, including on US government websites. The Georgia secretary of state's office did not respond to a request for comment, and Axios first reported the incident.
