Anthropic files for IPO that could top $100 billion
Anthropic filed papers Monday for a potential record-breaking initial public offering, setting up a Wall Street debut next month that could eclipse SpaceX's $86 billion IPO and surpass $100 billion in funds raised. The San Francisco AI company behind the chatbot Claude reported a net loss of $80.7 billion in the first half of 2026, up from $13 billion a year earlier, though revenue is growing rapidly. CEO Dario Amodei has recently argued for slowing advanced AI development, and the IPO could boost his and co-founder Daniela's wealth by billions. Anthropic, valued at $965 billion by private investors earlier this year, could see that rise to $1.5 trillion or $2 trillion, ranking it alongside Tesla. It will list on the Nasdaq under the ticker "ANT," beating rival OpenAI to the public market.
