Anthropic’s $100B IPO hinges on AI industry’s future funding
Anthropic has launched a prospectus for a potential $US100 billion IPO, the largest ever, with the success of the entire US AI industry's access to future capital depending on it. A failure could threaten trillions in funding needed by the sector. The company, which already holds $US112.4 billion in cash, warns it may need more funding sooner than expected. Its revenue hit $US16.3 billion in the first half, up 1300 per cent, though growth slowed to 45 per cent in the third quarter. Anthropic's governance model gives founders Dario and Daniela Amodei 50.1 per cent voting control via special stock, with a trust able to nominate four board members. The filing includes 94 pages of AI risk warnings, while rivals like OpenAI watch closely.
