Anthropic flags catastrophic AI risks in $100 billion IPO filing
Anthropic has warned its AI technology could pose "catastrophic or existential risks to humanity" in its IPO filing Monday, as it prepares for a potential record-breaking $100 billion stock market listing on Nasdaq under the ticker ANT. The San Francisco-based developer of the Claude chatbot identified dangers including cyberattacks, biological weapons, and autonomous systems acting beyond human control. The filing follows CEO Dario Amodei's September essay calling for a slowdown in advanced AI development to strengthen safeguards. Anthropic reported a net loss of $80.7 billion in the first half of 2026 despite rapid revenue growth, with IPO proceeds intended to fund expansion. The company could be valued between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion, potentially surpassing SpaceX's $86 billion raise.
