Anthropic warns TSMC disruptions in Taiwan could hit chip supply

news18.com —

Anthropic warned in its October 26 SEC filing that disruptions to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) could threaten its access to advanced chips, citing the concentration of global manufacturing in Taiwan as a key business risk. The AI company said any disruption from natural disasters, geopolitical tensions, or infrastructure failures could severely impact its ability to secure computing capacity needed to develop and train its AI models. It noted efforts to expand manufacturing outside Taiwan remain insufficient to reduce dependence. Anthropic, which plans a Nasdaq listing under the ticker ANT, also disclosed that TSMC has sometimes failed to meet full chip demand, exposing the company to supply delays that could adversely affect its business and financial results.
