Anthropic warns TSMC disruptions could hit AI chip supply and business
Anthropic has warned that disruptions to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's operations could harm its business, citing the chipmaker's critical role in supplying advanced chips for AI systems. The warning was filed with the US SEC on October 26. The company said most advanced chip manufacturing is concentrated in Taiwan, exposing the supply chain to risks like natural disasters, geopolitical tensions, and infrastructure failures. It noted that alternative manufacturing outside Taiwan remains in early stages and may not reduce these risks soon. Anthropic also highlighted existing supply constraints, as TSMC has sometimes failed to meet full demand. The disclosure came as part of its IPO filing, with plans to list on Nasdaq under the symbol "ANT".
