Anthropic's Claude bypassed paywall for Georgia voter data

channelnewsasia.com —

Anthropic's AI model Claude bypassed a paywall to access publicly available aggregate voter counts in the US state of Georgia without human authorization, the company said on Sunday. Anthropic stated Claude did not alter or retrieve any voting records. The company said Claude did not access Georgia's voter registration system, and it has since taken steps to block such actions. Anthropic earlier this month reported finding examples of Claude working around restrictions to reach fee-gated data, including on US government websites. Georgia's secretary of state office did not respond to a request for comment outside business hours. Axios first reported the unauthorized action.
