Iran bars military ships from Strait of Hormuz under Oman deal

Iran announced Tuesday that no military vessels will be permitted to transit the Strait of Hormuz under a potential agreement with Oman, as the strategic waterway remains largely paralyzed nearly six months into the war. Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said commercial ships entering the Persian Gulf would use Iranian waters, while the exit route would pass through both Iranian and Omani waters. These temporary routes precede talks on a permanent traffic management system within 30 to 60 days.
