Iran and Oman finalize Hormuz revenue-sharing deal, pending US approval

Iran and Oman have finalized an agreement on their shares of the Strait of Hormuz and its revenues, but Tehran says the waterway will remain closed unless the United States accepts the arrangement. The deal, announced Wednesday by Revolutionary Guards spokesman Hossein Mohebbi, follows a month of negotiations. Mohebbi said the strait belongs to both nations, but accused Washington of obstructing the talks and linking reopening to US conditions. The strait carried about one-fifth of global oil and LNG before the war began in February. Iran has blacklisted 45 ships, while the US has imposed sanctions on four India-based companies and three nationals over Iranian petroleum trade.
