Iranian Ship Hit by Unknown Projectile in Strait of Hormuz, UKMTO Says

A vessel was struck by an "unknown projectile" in the Strait of Hormuz, sparking a fire onboard, the British maritime agency UKMTO reported overnight Wednesday. The incident comes as Oman and Iran negotiate a temporary navigation corridor and mine clearance in the strait, with Tehran linking full reopening to an end of its war with the US. Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian warned Wednesday that Washington would gain "nothing" from new economic pressures, which the US has threatened as "asphyxiation." Iran's armed forces also listed BBC Persian among foreign media as military targets.
