Iran and Oman to Share Hormuz Revenue Deal

Iran and Oman have agreed to share revenue from an interim deal to reopen and control the Strait of Hormuz, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced Wednesday. The agreement, reached Tuesday, outlines each country's share of the strait's waters and revenues, according to IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebbi. He claimed the US is obstructing progress on the deal. The Trump administration has repeatedly warned both nations against charging fees for passage through the waterway. Under the interim plan, inbound traffic from the Gulf of Oman would pass through Iranian territory, while outbound traffic would use both Iranian and Omani waters. The nations also agreed to cooperate on removing underwater mines, contradicting President Trump's claim that explosives were gone. Trump insisted Wednesday the strait is "functioning" despite ongoing attacks on tankers.
