Iran Calls US Sanctions Economic Terrorism in UN Letter

Iran has condemned recent US sanctions as an act of state and economic terrorism in a letter to the United Nations, with Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi accusing Washington of attempting to end Iran's legitimate economic relations after failing to achieve its goals through war. The letter, addressed to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, the Security Council, and member states, follows US threats to isolate Iran economically through new sanctions targeting its trade partners. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned Monday that anyone trading with Iran would face the full force of US power. Araqchi stated the sanctions deliberately harm civilians by restricting access to food, medicine, and other goods, urging the UN to condemn and reject the measures. China has also criticized the sanctions, saying economic warfare escalates conflicts and disrupts the global financial order.
