Ukrainian drones strike Saratov refinery, one of Russia's oldest

On the night of Tuesday, September 8, explosions and a fire were reported in the Russian city of Saratov, with local authorities warning of a drone threat. OSINT analysts indicated the target was the Saratov Oil Refinery. The refinery, part of Rosneft since March 2013, is one of Russia's oldest oil processing plants, founded in 1934. It has been repeatedly targeted by Ukrainian attacks, with the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirming one on August 2. The Saratov refinery is among the largest in the Volga region, processing about 7 million tons of oil annually. It supports Russia's military-industrial complex and armed forces, with the Astra Telegram channel noting this was at least the fifteenth Ukrainian attack on the plant during the full-scale war.
