Russian Oil Giant's Refinery Burns After Drone Strike: Why Ryazan Matters

A drone attack on September 6 set fire to the Ryazan oil refinery, one of Russia's largest, causing a major blaze near which a Russian Ka-52 helicopter was spotted. The refinery, part of Rosneft, processes about 17 million tons of oil annually and produces gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and other key products, making it a major fuel supplier for Russian regions. The attack was reported by Ukrainian activist Serhiy Sternenko, who also noted that Russian electronic warfare in Rostov redirected drones into two residential buildings.
